David McDonald has been with OSI Group for 30 years and is now the President of the company. He started out as a project manager in OSI Group after he graduated from Iowa State University, with an Animal Science degree.
OSI provides quality products and services to all its customers both nationally and internationally. David works with a logistic team that is continually keeping up with the needs of their clients around the world. They work with all the local and international marketers to find the needs of the public in each country. David has a team of highly qualified personnel that travel internationally to make sure that all productions are inspected and meet OSI’s standards.
OSI recently bought Baho Foods. Baho Foods is a Dutch company that focuses on high quality deli meats. They bought Baho Foods in order to have a better representation in the European food processing market. Baho Foods does business with 18 European nations and services food businesses and retail markets with meat and other needed products. It also produces sacks and drinks as well as meat products.
David McDonald wanted to make sure that OSI could please the taste buds of the local customers. John Balvers from Baho Foods will stay on with OSI to maintain the high quality and the existing employees.
OSI is maintaining sustainability by making improvements in their production and processing departments. David McDonald states that OSI has made great progress in the poultry market by adding DaOSI. It has a partnership with DOYOO Group, which gives OSI its third poultry market. OSI is becoming the largest Chinese poultry market. David’s team also began 10 Chinese facilities. These facilities handled all the poultry for its fine restaurant chain. With a global network, David McDonald has created team leaders in each country to make sure that their local customers are satisfied. He wants to keep the local cultures and foods that they are accustomed to.
Tyson Foods was closing their plant in Chicago. It would leave nearly 500 people out of work. David took charge and acquired the plant to expand the production of OSI Foods. They were able to keep on as many employees who wanted to stay.
A new market came to OSI when they bought the European Flagship Food Group. This group satisfied the market with a variety of sauces and mayonnaise. David believed that buying the Flagship Food Group was a good idea. They had acquisitions of their own that they were doing and the two companies would be a great fit together.
